Food Bank feeds, shelters Willits folks
A budget approved last year by council members included substantial contributions to some community organizations.
Willits Community Services, also known as Willits Food Bank, received a check last week from the city for $10,000.
“We service about 1,000 households a month, and that is different from one thousand people, that is more,” said Ruthanne Volz, food bank director.
Support to those who need it with food or a warm room at the Redwood Inn are the two things that the organization makes possible.
“There is a huge need this time of year with the cold and the freezing and the snow,” Volz said, “so that has been a major part of our service right now in addition to food.”
