NEWSBOY rounded up data from Weather Underground to track measurements of rainfall recorded at Willits area digital weather stations.
Rainfall is tracked on the hydrologic or water year that begins October 1.
Information from four area weather stations, October 1 to today.
Precipitation to date is averaged 39 inches; precipitation in January accounted for 17.3 inches on average.
South Main at East San Francisco Avenue continued to top the other three stations for total rainfall and January rainfall.

A January 25 council meeting includes plans for an ordinance that would give the city a process to follow for city right-of-ways to be abandoned.

CITY OF WILLITS: PROJECT TITLE: Ordinance No. 2023-01 to amend Title 12 of the Willits Municipal Code to provide for a process to review and approve or deny abandonments of City right-of-way.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Introduction and first reading of Ordinance 2023-01 amending various sections of Title 12 of the Willits Municipal Code by adding Chapter 12.10 entitled Streets, Sidewalks, and Public Places.
PROJECT OVERVIEW: The City of Willits proposes to add a chapter to the City Zoning Code (Title 12, Chapter 12.10) to provide a process to abandon City right-of way and describes the findings by which such abandonments may be approved by City Council. Components of the added chapter include:
Appointment of City Council as hearing body for reviewing abandonment applications.
Establishes notice procedures for public hearing.
Prescribes application requirements for abandonment requests.
Provides standards for abandonment expiration, renewal, and revocation.
