Bike lanes ridiculed, more talks next month

Council members don’t have much support for Caltrans’ effort to implement bike lanes and other upgrades inline with the city’s Main Street Corridor Enhancement Plan.
Council members will likely firm up their position with a vote at their next meeting Sept. 13.
“If you can provide your input in writing, that would be appreciated,” Caltrans Traffic Engineer Andreas Krause said.
Krause had presented Caltrans’ project to council members last Wednesday and engaged with citizens and council members throughout.
For Caltrans, the agency’s story is that this project is already a grant-funded effort, fast tracked and must be sent to bid sometime in December.
It is also in a key planning document approved in 2016.
