A repeal of the county’s public records fee scheme looks closer than ever and it is on a meeting agenda next week.
If you do the math, Supervisor John Haschak has stated his wishes to repeal the ordinance and he would stand to be joined by Supervisors Maureen Mulheren and Ted Williams who co-sponsor the item for Tuesday’s meeting.
That makes three supervisors ready to repeal as the First Amendment Coalition, American Civil Liberties Union, Society of Professional Journalists, The Mendocino Voice and the Willits Environmental Center stand poised to sue if the board votes to uphold.
FAC and the ACLU stated in a letter last week that they would litigate if the county did not do something as soon as possible.
